DISPLAX Confirms ExtremeUSB(R) Interoperability with Skin Ultra and Skin Fit Multitouch Transparent Films

BURNABY, BC–(Marketwired – June 09, 2017) – Icron Technologies Corporation, a leader in USB and video extension technology, and DISPLAX Multitouch Technologies, a leading manufacturer of projected capacitive multitouch (PCAP) technology, today confirmed joint product interoperability between DISPLAX’s Skin Ultra and Skin Fit multitouch transparent films and Icron’s USB 2.0 Ranger® 2311 extender system with ExtremeUSB® extension technology.

DISPLAX’s multitouch films are thin transparent layers that adhere to surfaces such as windows, TVs, mirrors, tables and walls to enable interactive capabilities for displays. DISPLAX utilizes high-performance and robust large multitouch PCAP technology to offer the best of breed display touches. The Skin Fit film features a clear and highly transparent touch sensor supporting up to 40 simultaneous finger touches at a 5 millisecond response rate over a surface area of 20″ to 105″ while the Skin Ultra increases the simultaneous touch count to 100 at the same response rate over a 30″ to 105″ surface area with additional 3D sensors for proprietary pressure detection. Both solutions make use of USB 2.0 for power and data transfers and come with software configuration tools for application customization.

Icron’s USB 2.0 Ranger 2311 provides high-speed USB 2.0 extension at 480 Mbps data rates up to 100m using CAT 5e/6/7 cabling. The Ranger 2311 provides the installer with “flexible power” allowing for power to be applied at either the local point near the host or at the remote point near the USB peripheral, whichever is most convenient. The extender also comes with a two-year warranty and includes the ExtremeUSB suite of features such as transparent USB extension, true plug and play (no software drivers) and compatibility with all major operating systems: Windows®, macOS™ and Linux®.

“We chose a USB 2.0 interface for our Skin product range (Skin Dualtouch, Skin Fit and Skin Ultra) multitouch films to support data and power as well as plug and play installation simplicity,” said Moe Bagheri, Marketing Manager at DISPLAX. “Increasingly, we are receiving requests for a robust and reliable USB 2.0 extender for applications where the required cable distance is greater than five meters. We recommend Icron’s Ranger 2311 with ExtremeUSB technology as the only extender to pass our intensive interoperability criteria to ensure flawless performance with our multitouch films.”

“There is a huge demand for multitouch films fueled by the desire for interactivity in applications such as information kiosks, store windows, transportation hubs, restaurant table menus, clothing shop mirrors, classrooms, museums and corporate meeting rooms to name just a few,” said Glenn Antonelli, Vice President of Marketing at Icron. “DISPLAX is the leader in this exciting space, and we are very pleased to have our Ranger 2311 solution recommended as the extender of choice when USB extension is required to complete the installation.”

DISPLAX will be exhibiting their multitouch transparent films at InfoComm 2017 in booth #1880 from June 14-16 at the Orange County Convention Center (OCCC) in Orlando, Florida. Installers can purchase Icron’s USB 2.0 Ranger 2311 at online distributor 42U.com.
