FLOW 93-5, Toronto’s first and only hip-hop radio station is back

TORONTO, Feb. 13, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Stingray is proud to announce the return of FLOW 93-5, Canada’s first and only hip-hop radio station.

Originally launched in 2001, FLOW 93-5 was born out of an overwhelming need. Toronto wanted a radio station that not only played hip-hop but was also in touch with the community and reflected its interests.

When FLOW 93-5 disappeared from Toronto’s radio landscape in 2016, it left a massive void. FLOW 93-5’s loyal, almost cult-like fan base, advocated for its return – illustrating that FLOW 93-5 is one of the strongest brands this city has ever seen. There is no brand in Canada more synonymous with hip-hop than FLOW 93-5.

Today we are proud to welcome FLOW 93-5 back to Toronto’s airwaves. “There has never been a better time to welcome back FLOW 93-5. Extensive research has told us that Toronto understands FLOW 93-5 means hip-hop, it means community and that it evokes excitement,” says Program Director Josie Fenech. “Our core artists are not only hip-hop’s biggest stars; they are global celebrities breaking sales records and dominating the charts. Drake, The Weeknd, Cardi B, Travis Scott, Nicki Minaj, Kendrick Lamar, and Post Malone are part of our musical foundation,” Fenech adds.

During its initial 15-year run, FLOW 93-5 was instrumental in launching the careers of Drake, The Weeknd, and Tory Lanez, to name a few. As Toronto’s up-and-coming talent journey to become international superstars in 2019, FLOW 93-5 is committed to providing tremendous support and exposure by dedicating an hour of programming five nights a week showcasing only Toronto artists.

FLOW 93-5 is part of the fabric of this city. Made in Toronto, FLOW 93-5 is Toronto’s hip-hop. Listen now!
